"You are what you consume" by Rick Copley

When I was growing up in the 1970s and 80s there was a public service commercial on TV that I will never forget.

It was a song and the song went a little like this: "You are what you eat, from your head to your feet..."

At one point a cartoon character bellowed, "I'm hankering for a hunk of cheese..."

Thank you federal government for that corney ass cartoon.

There is truth to the message, but there is more to who you are then just what you eat.

You are what you consume and it's not just what goes in via your mouth.

Your DNA / genetics determine basically what you are and what you put in your body determines who you get to be for the whole of your life.

I would say there are 4 ways that you can consume the building blocks to whom you choose to become.

1. Your skin. Most people don't think about this but your skin is your largest organ and can soak up a lot of good and a lot of bad. Everything you put on your skin ends up in your bloodstream so be careful what you put on there!

Also, make sure to get plenty of sunshine. The sun is our main source of vitamin D. Did you know that you must have sufficient vitamin D to absorb calcium which support bone growth and maintenance? Get plenty (but not too much!) sunshine on your skin and limit the toxins that you put on you.

You are what you consume!

2. Your ears. What do you listen to? Is it good or bad? Empowering or demoralizing? Uplifting or maddening? I suggest that you put good sounds into your ears each and everyday. This is why I listening to motivational and educational podcast each day. What goes into your ears translated into motivations, thoughts and actions.

Do you want this to be negative or positive?

You are what you consume!

3. Your eyes. What are you reading? What are you watching? Does what you see with your eye during the day make you feel good of make you feel crappy? Are you looking at Instagram models with unattainable bodies? Or are you looking at families smiling and enjoying each others company?

Do you read books? In you do are they books that empower and educate you or do they simply entertain or anger you?

What are you watching on TV? Is it thought provoking and enlightening or violent and dark? Are you learning something or just being entertained?

You are what you consume!

4. Your mouth. This is the one that we are think is the most important what it comes to consumption. This is certainly the area that we can screw up the most and most of us do.

You need to eat to empower. You need to eat to nourish. You need to eat to become more.

Make sure you understand that the food you put into your mouth is either going to heal or hurt you. It's either going to help you to become more and better or it's going to bring you down.

The purpose of food is NOT to celebrate.

The purpose of food is NOT to taste great.

The purpose of food is NOT to help you escape the world if it's a world you want to escape.

The real purpose of food to to help you heal and help you grow. Always remember that.

You are what you consume!

The point of life is to live it and not to merely survive. What you consume will 100% determine both who you are what you become.

Lucky for you you get to choose that you consume. Choose well my friends. Choose well.
